Paseos por la Riviera Maya

There are always lots of things to do in Puerto Morelos, but sometimes you want a change of scenery. When I had the opportunity to take a tour to Isla Mujeres through We Love Puerto Morelos Tours I jumped at it while my friend Tracy was visiting from the US at the end of January. We had such an amazing day and were so thankful that we went!

Our day started at the church in Puerto Morelos where we met up with our transportation to Cancun. We joined a handful of others in the comfortable, air-conditioned van who also were going on our tour. When we arrived at the dock in Cancun, we were met by Alex, a bilingual guide who works on the Diamond Bright II, the catamaran that took us to the island. As soon as we boarded the catamaran we were treated like royalty by the crew. They made sure we were comfortable, safe, and had a great time. They took the idea of an open bar very seriously and constantly made sure our drink cups were full!

The morning we set out on the catamaran was initially cloudy and the waves were impressive, but it didn’t stop us from having a great time. Alex and another crew member took those who were strong swimmers snorkeling and everyone who went had a great time and reported seeing lots of fish in the gorgeous turquoise waters. The crew was very conscientious and made sure that everyone was safely back on the boat before we set off again for Isla.

When we arrived at Isla Mujeres we were able to do some shopping as well as spend time at the beach near the dock. The sun was out by then so we enjoyed getting some sun, cooling off in the water and of course taking lots of pictures. We reboarded the boat and moved to another area of the island where we got off again and had lunch at Beach Club Playa Mexico. Their buffet included local Mexican menu items such as mole, pollo, rice, beans, and fruit. Open bar was also included with our lunch. We enjoyed spending more time in the ocean there on the beach where hammocks and loungers are available.

We boarded the catamaran for the last time around 3:30pm and set sail back to Cancun. The crew entertained us with music, las Mananitas to celebrate one of the group member’s birthdays, and even a little dance number complete with costumes and wigs. It was the perfect way to visit Isla Mujeres and a stress free day. We arrived back at the dock just before 5pm and our transportation picked us up and returned us to Puerto Morelos. The experience was more than worth the price of the ticket and is something I’ll definitely be repeating again when I have more friends or family visiting. I highly recommend it! Thank you, We Love Puerto Morelos Tours!

¡Muchas gracias, We Love Puerto Morelos Tours!

Tequila vs. Mezcal: Flavor Profiles and Recipies (4/4)

Tequila vs. Mezcal: Flavor Profiles and Recipies (4/4)

The main difference between the flavor profiles of tequila and mezcal lies in their production methods and regional specificity. Tequila is a type of mezcal made exclusively from the blue agave plant and produced primarily in Los Altos de Jalisco using industrial ovens for cooking, resulting in a cleaner taste. Mezcal, which includes various agave types, is made in various regions of Mexico, including Oaxaca and Michoacán. It uses traditional methods of roasting the agave in underground pits, giving it a smoky flavor and a wider range of tastes. Tequila often has vibrant agave flavors with hints of citrus and herbs, while mezcal can have earthy, fruity, or floral notes along with the smokiness. Keep in mind that flavors can vary between brands and types within tequila and mezcal, so exploring different options will give you a better understanding of their unique tastes.
