XPM Halloween
Everything started on Saturday night the 29th with the first costume contest at the Ojo de Agua Beach Club. What a gorgeous backdrop – with ocean views and a beach converted into a lit cemetery, their Day of Dead altar, and decorated for the festivities. Beachfront at night is always a great idea since the ocean breeze helps you to not sweat to death while dancing the night away.
Todo comenzó la noche del sábado 29/10 en la primera fiesta de disfraces del Beach Club Ojo de Agua, una escena increíble, ambientado para el evento y con su altar de Dia de Muertos hecho con mucha dedicación. Estar frente al mar durante la noche siempre es una buena idea y la brisa permite que aunque te canses bailando no pierdes litros de agua en sudor!

The Mistress of Ceremonies and the live music amplified the night and of course, there was a costume contest. There were some really cool costumes and interpretations of some of our favorite characters. These were the ones that won the prizes!
La maestra de ceremonias y la música en vivo amenizaron magníficamente la noche y por supuesto hubo concurso de disfraces. ¡Cuánto talento para disfrazarse y para interpretar los personajes! Eso es lo más premiado.
We all had so much fun and the winner, “El Diablo”, won a night at the beautiful Ojo de Agua Hotel. Special mentions were a beautifully made-up Catrina in second place and the Circus Man won third place.
Todos los presentes nos divertimos muchísimo y el ganador, esta vez “El Diablo”, ganó 1 noche en el hermoso hotel Ojo de Agua. Menciones especiales para una catrina increíblemente maquillada que obtuvo el 2do lugar y el Hombre del circo que alcanzó el podio en el 3er puesto.
Don Mexkal also had a contest and they danced the night away.
Además hubo concurso en Don Mexkal donde el baile y la diversión siguió hasta bien entrada la madrugada.
La Sirena Puerto Morelos
On Halloween night, Monday the 31st of october had, La Sirena Puerto Morelos had activities that started early with Games for a Cause fundraiser, a raffle, and a tarot reader. All proceeds were donated to an animal food bank in Puerto Morelos. As the moon peeked out in the night sky, the live music began. Of course, the band “Dirty Twenty Secrets” was in full spooktacular fashion for the terror of the night!
El mero día de Halloween, lunes 31 de octubre La Sirena propuso actividades desde muy temprano, comenzó con juegos con causa, rifas y hasta tarot. Lo recaudado se donó al banco de alimento de animales de Puerto Morelos. Ya con la luna asomando empezó la música en vivo y como no podía ser de otra manera ”Dirty Twenty Secrets” también estaban caracterizados para el terror de la noche.
There were so many fun moments, dancing and of course, the big contest – it was a well-fought, tough competition! As we know, group costumes always get lots of cheers, as it was in the case of the Sumo Wrestlers from Lighthouse Tours who ended up winning second place (a $500 mxn Siren gift certificate, a t-shirt and a hat), just edging out a beautiful traditional Catrina named Aranza. But the well-deserved first prize went to an artist who painstakingly turned herself into a Human Piñata, with a dress, shoes, and even the stick with individually placed tissue paper – piece by piece. La Sirena generously provided a $1000 mxn gift certificate, a t-shirt, and a bottle of vanilla tequila!

Se vivieron momentos de mucha diversión, baile y por supuesto el gran concurso. ¡Muy parejo y peleado! Sabemos que los disfraces grupales ganan muchos adeptos, fue el caso del equipo de luchadores de Sumo de Lighthouse Tours que alcanzaron el 2do lugar, superando a una bella catrina caracterizada por Aranza. Pero definitivamente por belleza, esfuerzo, trabajo y dedicación en el disfraz el primer premio se entregó a La Piñata Humana, ella hizo todo su traje, papelito por papelito, merecidos los aplausos y los premios.
The real winners of the Night of Terror at La Sirena were all of us who had so much fun, drinking and dancing the night away!
Pero los realmente premiados en la noche de terror de La Sirena fuimos los clientes, que nos divertimos, bailamos y brindamos hasta la madrugada.
Worth mentioning, there was also an afternoon costume beach party at The Diving Lodge Downtown and much later into the evening on Rojo Gómez at Lauro’s Puerto Morelos.
Pero ojo, en la playa también hubo festejos a la tarde los disfraces estuvieron en Diving Lodge y también en la Rojo Gómez ya mucho más entrada la noche, en Lauro’s.
