There is a lot of Christmas cheer happening all over town, and we wanted to be sure to create a space where you’d find the information you need to make the most of your visit to our lovely little slice of paradise. Below you’ll find two sections – one of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day meal specials (with separate sections for portside vs colonia locations) and the other of Christmas events. We hope to see you out and about enjoying all the festivities!

Christmas in Mexico is a season centered around family, food, and spending time together. Las Posadas are an important December tradition throughout the country, although here in Puerto Morelos they donāt typically take the form of the nightly neighborhood processions you may see in other parts of Mexico. Instead, youāll often see families and groups of friends hosting their own posadas at home, while local restaurants offer special menus, catering, or spaces to host posada parties. The city also hosts festive community events for local children, with colorful Christmas lights and decorations, food vendors, family activities, and gifts to help make the season extra special for Puerto Morelos families. Nochebuena, December 24, is especially important, with families gathering for a large meal and celebrating together late into the evening.
For visitors, Christmas in Puerto Morelos may look a little different from what youāre used to back home. Many restaurants and tourism-related businesses remain open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and restaurants often offer special holiday menusāreservations are a good idea. Banks, however, are closed on December 25, which is an official closure day for financial institutions in Mexico, so itās smart to take care of banking and get any cash you need ahead of time.Ā
The celebrations continue after Christmas with New Yearās Eve and DĆa de Reyes on January 6, when families traditionally share a Rosca de Reyesāmaking the holiday season in Mexico a celebration that stretches well beyond December 25.
