Las historias de pequeños negocios que crecen nos encantan, y si a eso le sumamos negocio familiar y juventudes emprendedoras somos más felices aún. Por eso queremos compartirte la historia de esta tienda, Styling Mink, y sus particularidades.
Algo que nos gustaría resaltar es que esta tienda nace del deseo de una joven, pero no de tener una tienda sino un teléfono. Con la negativa de la madre de comprárselo así sin más, esta joven comenzó a ofrecer ropa que tenía sin usar y ropa que una vecina también le ofrecía que no estaba en uso. Ese es el inicio hace no mucho tiempo, aunque parece mucho más por todo lo que han crecido.
We love the stories of growing small businesses, and we’re especially happy when they are family businesses run by young entrepreneurs. That’s why we wanted to share the story and details about this store, Styling Mink.
Something that we want to highlight is that this store was born out of the dream of a young woman. It didn’t actually start with the aspiration to own a store, but rather the desire to have a cell phone. When her mother declined to buy her one, this young woman began to sell her own clothing that she no longer used, as well as clothes a neighbor wasn’t needing anymore.
Al ver la respuesta de amigas y vecinas, comenzó a pensar un poco más en grande y le propuso a su mamá, ya no que le comprara el celular sino que la apoyara con una inversión para la compra de ropa americana NUEVA. Esta es la distinción que debemos hacer – aunque empezaron vendiendo ropa de segunda mano, toda la ropa que empezaron a comprar para vender siempre fue ropa nueva. Pero las piezas fueron mejorando por el profesionalismo de las dueñas. Ahora viajan a buscar los lotes y por lo tanto pueden elegir prendas de mayor calidad para traer a sus clientes Puerto Morelenses.
When she saw the positive response from her friends and neighbors to selling second hand clothes, she started to think bigger. She made a proposal to her mom – she was no longer asking for a cell phone, but instead was asking her mom to support her by investing in the purchase of NEW clothing from the USA. This is an important distinction to make – although they began by selling used clothing, the clothing they purchased to sell has always been new, but the quality of the pieces they offered continued to improve because of the professionalism of the owners. Now they travel to buy clothing in bulk and that way they can choose higher quality items to bring back to their clients in Puerto Morelos.
Poco a poco y por la necesidad de que la ropa las deje espacio para caminar por la casa, cambiaron de locación y decidieron abrir un lugar propio donde puedan exponer toda las piezas que tienen disponibles. Así que puedes pasar a buscar un vestido de fiesta, una sudadera, ropa deportiva o lo que necesites en el parque de la colonia justo bajo el Hotel Muchin. Siguen con tanto éxito que ahora abrieron una sucursal en Mérida también.
Little by little the clothing began filling the house until they barely had room to walk. They needed to move to a new location so they decided to open their own shop where they have enough space to display all of the pieces they have available. You can stop by to look for a party dress, a sweatshirt, sportswear or whatever you need at their shop just off the park on the colonia side of town, under the Hotel Muchin. They’ve had so much success that they just opened a second shop in Mérida.
Además las dueñas, mantienen aún la modalidad de los “en Vivo” en redes sociales para la apertura de nuevos lotes. Así que tienes que estar atento para que no te saquen de las manos esa prenda que tanto quieres. Una vez presentada en sociedad por las redes sociales, lo que no se vendió durante el “en vivo” llega al local, junto a calzado, juguetes y piezas de hombre y mujer y en todos los talles. Ahí hay algo para toda la familia en Styling Mink.
The owners also continue to “go live” on their social media when they get new stock in, so you need to pay attention so that you don’t miss out on pieces that you have been looking for. Anything that doesn’t sell immediately on the live event is then brought to the store. They stock clothing for men and women in all sizes, as well as shoes and toys, so there is something for everyone at Styling Mink.
